After serving for over 20 years as the pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Charleston, SC, Don Flowers has north of the border.  No, not to North Carolina, but to Canada!  Many friends remarked that while many said that if Donald Trump was elected president they would move to Canada, Don is the only one who has actually done it!  That is not the reason!  It is a bonus, but not the reason!

Don now serves as the pastor of Port Williams United Baptist Church in the beautiful Annapolis Valley.   Don and Anita are enjoying the adventure and learning how to live as refugees, or immigrants, or sojourners.  You pick the term!  It does open ones eyes to seeing the world, and faith a bit differently.

Before moving to the Lowcountry he served as Minister of Youth and Activities at First Baptist, Greenville, SC and as Minister of Youth and Children at First Baptist Church, Lenoir, NC.

Don is a native of Cherryville, NC.  He has a BA from Wake Forest (and loves the Demon Deacons,)  a M. Div from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (when it was a seminary,) and a D. Min from Emory University.  His dissertation is entitled Sexual Ethics for Parents, reflecting his vocation of helping individuals make good decisions about sexuality.  He has lived that out in his service with the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, where he has served two terms as the board chair.  In 2009 he received the Murray Vincent Outstanding Prevention Professional Award.

Don is married to Anita, a career coach with Blue Sage Career Strategies. They have 2 married daughters.  When he isn’t working he enjoys biking, golf and being outside, especially near the water.  He had a sailboat until he realized it deserved a better owner and set it free!
