I found myself there last Friday morning after an incredible week in Cape Town. Sitting there with little boys running around playing tag, watching the most diverse assortment of people wandering by, hearing a Pentecost-like assortment of languages (or was it a Babel like assortment—sometimes it is hard to tell the difference!) checking again to make sure I got everything out of the hotel room (a little bit late now, but where IS my passport–4th check since we got to the airport!) and wondering if I really can drive from Johnanesburg to Hoedspruit on the wrong side of the road in a straight drive car!
And there church happened.
Over the speakers came a song. I hadn’t heard it before. In the noise of the concourse (there was a game of tag going one) I really couldn’t catch the words to anything except the chorus:
Love changes everything.
It does. If we listen. If we watch. If we open ourselves to the world.
It transformed an airport concourse into a church.
I wonder what else it might change?
